EAL/D

Learning English is essential for success at school and effective participation in Australian society. We can provide specialist support to help students learning English as an additional language or dialect (EAL/D).

At Revesby Public School, we value linguistic diversity and support students from language backgrounds other than English to develop strong communication skills. Our EAL/D program provides targeted support for students at all phases of English language acquisition, including newly arrived students to Australia. Through explicit language instruction embedded across classroom programs, small group support and inclusive teaching practices, students are supported to build confidence in listening, speaking, reading and writing. We work in close partnership with families and staff to ensure every student feels welcomed, supported and able to fully access the curriculum.

‘Equity means that all students receive an education that enables them to realise their talents and fully participate in society in a way of their choosing.’ (Sahlberg, 2022:6)
