Education for your child is important and regular attendance at school is essential for your child to achieve their educational best and increase their career and life options. NSW public schools work in partnership with parents to encourage and support regular attendance of children and young people. When your child attends school every day, learning becomes easier and your child will build and maintain friendships with other children. Link to DoE attendance matters
Attendance Policy
Attendance Policy
The School Attendance Policy sets out the requirements for the attendance of students in NSW government schools.
Students must attend school regularly so they can achieve their educational best and increase their career and life options.
Compulsory Schooling
Parents or carers of children of compulsory school age are responsible for ensuring their child attends school every day. Children must commence school by age 6 and then complete year 10.
After Year 10 and until they turn 17, students must be:
in school or registered for home schooling or
in approved education or training (e.g. TAFE, traineeship, apprenticeship) or
in full-time, paid employment (average 25 hours/week) or
in a combination of work, education and/or training.
Enrolled students 17 years and over are required to attend school regularly to meet Higher School Certificate course requirements.
More information on compulsory school attendance is available below. (Note: these resources do not currently meet WCAG 2.0 accessibility requirements. Please contact Attendance to request alternative copies).
If your child is absent from school, a parent/carer can provide an explanation by entering the reason through the School Bytes App or emailing the reason and any relevant documentation such as a medical certificate to revesby-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au
Alternatively, a note written by the student's parent/carer can be delivered to Student Services upon the student's return to school.

Late arrival to school

A parent/carer can provide an explanation by sending the student with a note or medical certificate, entering the reason through the School Bytes App or emailing the reason to revesby-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au.
Departing school early
If your child needs to leave school early, please notify the school in advance by sending a note with the student or emailing revesby-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au with the reason and expected time of departure. Alternatively, parents/carers are welcome to come to the Front Office to complete an early leave form. Students cannot be dismissed early from school without written permission from a parent/carer.
Extended leave request
If your child will be absent from school for more than five consecutive school days, an Extended Leave Form must be completed prior to their absence. Approval from the school principal is required for extended leave, and approval may be affected by factors such as the total number of school days missed or any overlap with the assessment schedule.
To complete the process, you will need to submit additional documentation along with the completed form, including but not limited to a flight itinerary or details regarding the purpose and method of travel.
Sign in to the School Bytes App and log in to your portal.
Select the forms tab.
Select a form from the pending action or school forms list.
Enter the details in the form.
Select submit: The sent form will now be available in your form responses.
In the responses panel, select view on the required form to view a copy of your form response.

Attendance Blitz
Research has shown that students with strong attendance achieve better, build stronger friendships, and develop a greater sense of belonging at school. In contrast, poor attendance can lead to significant learning gaps, lower self-worth, and greater difficulty forming and maintaining friendships.
Parents and families can support their children by helping them stay organised for school—such as preparing non-food items the night before—and by ensuring regular bedtimes so students get enough sleep to arrive refreshed and ready to learn.
Each term, Revesby Public School recognises and celebrates students who attend school every day and arrive on time, unless they are absent due to illness or an unavoidable appointment, through Attendance Blitz.
We also continue to focus on Improved Attendance, with rewards for students who show a sustained effort to improve their attendance compared to the previous term.
