Effective Feedback

Effective feedback

Revesby Public School prides itself on ensuring that students get effective feedback.  Teachers ensure that the learning is visible through explicit teaching included the identification of the learning intentions and success criteria, and making them transparent to the students.

There is focus on telling students why the learning is important, and being clear about the purpose of tasks.

Effective feedback is supported through professional learning has supported teachers in ensuring that feedback focuses on improving tasks, processes and supports student self regulation. Stage supervisors also support teachers in ensuring students are receiving quality feedback.

The focus on feedback includes recognition of the student's process or effort as opposed to the outcome.  Feedback is also given to encourage students' self-regulation for example the Two Stars and A Wish where recognition is given to students in terms of two things that the student is doing well and one wish where the child is encouraged to self regulate the learning to improve in a particular area.

Research clearly shows that feedback is one of the most powerful influences on student achievement. Teachers have all reported increased confidence in giving effective feedback.
