Developing a growth mindset within our students is critical to their learning. The way students think and see themselves and their abilities has implications on the way that they learn and their level of achievement.
We are developing the growth mindset through developing an internal voice that is positive. We aim to develop perseverance and resilience within our students. Furthermore we have been talking to our students about developing ‘GRIT' where we value struggle, failure and perseverance in the classroom.
Revesby Public School believe that this is an important quality in developing life long learners and students who are creative and critical thinkers who are ready for the challenges of real life.
This will be completed through teachers modelling these skills for students. Students will use think aloud explicitly about GRIT. There will be talk about mistakes made and how to overcome these. Our goal is to teach students strategies to embrace challenges with a growth mindset and turn their mistakes into success. This will equip students in becoming resilient life long learners.
