Use of data to inform practice

Using data to inform practice.

We pride ourselves on effectively analysing student data to identify areas in which students' learning needs may require additional attention and development.

Teachers use this data to see which students may require additional support.  Teachers implement high quality assessment practices.  The effective use of these assessments and data is used to drive improvement. We believe that assessment is critical in ensuring continued improvement.  This data is critical to student's outcomes.

Quality data is important in teachers being able to use and implement assessment data effectively in order to improve student achievement and wellbeing outcomes.  Data is collected through formative assessment where the assessment is for learning, which can include giving feedback to the learner.  Quality data is important in assisting teachers in being able to design and implement good formative assessment in order to obtain useful data, which they can use to adapt and inform their teaching practice. Data is also collected through summative assessment processes where the performance of the student is attained at the en of the learning and this is assessment of the learning.

At Revesby Public the school leaders encourage a whole school focus on the analysis of data.  School leaders support teachers' in effective use of data, and encourage evidence-based teacher practices across the school.  School leaders analyse the school based and external data to ensure student progress.  School leaders promote discussions about data, supporting use of assessment data to address students' needs, and facilitating opportunities for collaboration within and across schools.
